My dads solo work is finally up on spotify. His last work (Fuglar geta ekki á flogið á Tunglinu) is especially important to me. Not only because I got to sing and play guitar on the whole album when I was 16/17 years old but because he achieved his dream and took his family (my brother playing drums @eaglerafnsson )plus old band buddies to London to record this album live at Abbeyroad studios.
He passed away the night after the first song was mixed by his good friend Ken Thomas at our house.
The title track (birds can’t fly on the moon) is about a dream he had where he had wings but couldn’t use them. Obviously relating to his condition, suffering from ALS.
Here’s to cherrishing the memories of our departed loved ones, and I always say that it helps to talk to them, I’m sure they hear us still.
